A Virtual Trip Around The World

To kick off 2024, we decided to go on a virtual trip around the world, we started our trip in Australia learning about the Australian Zoo, home of The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. During our trip in the zoo, we learnt facts about Australia, one in particular that stuck out for many, was that Australia has more than 10,000 beaches and if you were to decide to visit a new beach every day, it will take more than 27 years of your lifetime!

Next on our stop around the world was Italy, where we visited the Vatican Museum and the Colosseum. We asked the group what was the best place in Italy that we had visited and they said the Colosseum due to learning all about its history.

We then moved onto France, visiting some of its famous landmarks, discussing The Mona Lisa, a half-length portrait painting done by the famous, Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. This piece of artwork is considered an archetypal masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance.

We made it back in time for lunch where we celebrated National Hot Toddy Day, by making some delicious drinks. Hot Toddies are simple drinks made from hot water, whisky, honey and lemon. Some add cinnamon sticks to add a touch of warmth. A Hot Toddy is an old wife's tale to be a home remedy to treat the symptoms of a cold or flu. The ingredients are seen to help with having a sore throat, runny nose and cough. The perfect warmer to end a great trip around the world.

Our activities team love to come up with creative ways our residents can enjoy their days, whether that's a day trip out from our residential home in Edinburgh, or bringing the day trip to them. If you'd like to book a tour of our wonderful care home, please contact us today and we can get this arranged for you.
