104th Birthday Celebration

This month at Trinity House we have loved celebrating the special birthday of one of our residents, Betty. Edinburgh Zoo is a popular destination amongst a lot of our residents, as it's somewhere that brings everybody joy. So what better place for Betty to celebrate her big day!

It had always been Betty's lifelong wish to feed giraffes so we set out to make just that happen. When we reached out to the team at Edinburgh Zoo, they offered to set up a private area for us where Betty was able to meet and feed all of the giraffes.

Edinburgh Zoo is known for its commitment to animal conservation and welfare, making it the perfect destination for a birthday celebration. Encountering a range of fascinating creatures from all over the world offers an opportunity to connect with nature and take in the natural beauty of wildlife.

In the lead-up to her birthday, Betty was becoming more and more excited and telling us how much she was looking forward to meeting and seeing them. We spent the morning wrapping her up in her favourite clothes and giving her a pamper in our beauty salon before heading on down to the zoo.

When Betty was younger, she travelled the world with her husband and specifically looks back on her time in Africa fondly as she got to see so many animals in the wild. Our team and other residents enjoy listening to all of the stories Betty has from her time travelling, it is wonderful to hear about everything she did and the different types of nature she got to see.

At Trinity House Care Home, Edinburgh we take pride in ensuring our residents live rich and meaningful lives and get to continue doing the things they love. We believe that residents should be able to fill their days with whatever they choose, no matter what their interests are.

We are thrilled that Betty enjoyed her day and are looking forward to celebrating many more birthdays with our residents in the future.
