Residents Try Their Hand at Tattoo Art for National Tattoo Day

National Tattoo Day

On 17th July, Trinity House Care Home residents embraced their creative side in celebration of National Tattoo Day by becoming tattoo artists for the afternoon. With pens and temporary tattoo kits at the ready, residents designed their own unique creations and even had the chance to “tattoo” some of our brave staff members — all in good fun, and of course, completely temporary!

The activity sparked plenty of laughter and conversation as residents shared their thoughts on tattoo styles, placement, and the personal meanings behind certain designs. Many reminisced about tattoos they already had, while others enjoyed imagining what they might choose if they were to get one. The session was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to connect, share stories, and enjoy a relaxed, light-hearted atmosphere together.

Creativity was flowing as flowers, butterflies, initials, and even abstract patterns came to life on paper before making their way onto eager staff volunteers. Some residents surprised everyone with their artistic flair, while others used the chance to design something meaningful that reflected their personality or past experiences. The variety of designs made for a colourful and memorable afternoon.

Staff members were fantastic sports, happily rolling up their sleeves to become living canvases for the residents’ artwork. The light-hearted role reversal created plenty of laughs and strengthened the bond between residents and the team. Many staff proudly wore their new “tattoos” throughout the day, showing them off to anyone who passed by.

Events like this highlight the importance of fun, engaging activities in care home life, offering opportunities for self-expression while sparking joy and conversation. The tattoo afternoon was not only a creative exercise but also a way to celebrate individuality, storytelling, and shared experiences. It’s safe to say that National Tattoo Day at Trinity House Care Home was one to remember.
