A Ministerial Visit

Here at Trinity House Care Home, we have a very good relationship with the Holy Cross Nursery, meaning we have regular visits with the children doing activities such as arts and crafts and sing-alongs with our residents. Due to regularly working with the Holy Cross Nursery, we were approached by Generations Working Together to host a visit from our local MP, Paul Maynard, in which we gladly accepted.

On Thursday 29th February, we held an afternoon full of activities with both our residents and the children from the nursery, this is where Mr Maynard joined in, they all sat together making friendship bracelets, completing puzzles and joining in with our sing-along, all followed by a lovely afternoon tea.

We're very proud of the intergenerational work we do here at Trinity House, especially with the nursery. These bonds are so important for both the children and our residents.

Generations Working Together, hold excellence awards within the field of intergenerational work and by recognising individuals and groups for the quality of their intergenerational work enables GWT to challenge the perception that intergenerational work is a nice thing to do, rather than being essential. Recently, both Holy Cross Nursery and us here at Trinity House have applied for this award, after all of our hard work over the past years working together to brand that gap between the two generations.

This is something we're proud of and continue working with the Holy Cross Nursery. Intergenerational connections help both the children and our residents ensuring they all feel cared for and valued. These programmes increase feelings of wellbeing and self-esteem; friendships between younger people and older, help make those communities more special and strong.
